Shaping healthy sustainable urban spaces in Africa through knowledge sharing, collaboration and exchange
Our mission
To harness the strength of Africa and its diaspora to advance knowledge and skills for integrated action and to serve as a forum for transformative discourse and shared learning for the healthy sustainable development of Africa
What we do
We focus on urban places and spaces that influence the air we breathe, the ways we move, and the food we eat.
We work at the nexus of health and climate to inform synergistic action that improves health, boosts climate resilience, and advances sustainable development goals.
We foster knowledge exchange and collaboration on healthy sustainable development between African researchers on the continent and in the diaspora.
We do this through:
New research
We conduct action-oriented,rapid-cycle and socially engaged research that advances methods and generates evidence for synergistic action for better health and better climate resilience in cities...
We cater for joint research initiatives between governments, multilateral, private sector, non-governmental, and other research organisations.
New capacity strengthening
We nurture a community of practice and offer training and courses to build a pipeline of the next generation of boundary-spanning African researchers, practitioners and policy actors with relevant transdisciplinary, foresight, science diplomacy and leadership skills.
New discourse and convening
We organise and contribute to convenings to inform and influence discourse on urban and planetary health for the sustainable development of Africa's cities.
